Highlights from I DO’s Impact Event 2024

On 25 February, the I DO Impact Event turned the campus into a lively space full of student-led NGO stands and activities. For the day, our student consultants acted as ambassadors for the NGOs they support — sharing stories, raising awareness, and finding creative ways to engage visitors.

At the fair, teams showcased their NGOs’ missions, key projects, and measurable impact through everything from presentations and videos to hands-on activities. QR codes made it easy for visitors to learn more or donate to the causes they cared about.

There was no shortage of creativity. Many stands gamified the experience with quizzes, trivia, or spin-the-wheel games. The “Chocolate Has a Name” team drew a crowd with an art piece, tote bags, trivia, and specially made “Impact Bars.” Live with Earth ran a painting station using eco-friendly pigments, while Humera Shahid’s stand got everyone talking with a period-cramp simulator — and one student even wore bloody pants to spark discussion about period poverty. Roots of Health offered haircuts for a €20 donation, and plenty of homemade snacks and treats were shared across the event.

The day was kicked off by our student team and advisory board, and together the event raised around €1,000 for the participating NGOs. More than the funds, though, the event was about giving students a chance to connect with the public, practice explaining social issues, and try out new, hands-on ways of engaging people.

From interactive art and games to presentations and videos, the event showed the wide range of approaches students take to support NGOs — and the curiosity, conversations, and smiles it sparked throughout the day.
